European iOS Platformer Games: A Q4 2020 Retrospective

The final quarter of 2020 saw varying performances among the top platformer games on iOS in Europe. Data provided by Sensor Tower gives us a closer look at the trends for these games in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Subway Surfers by Sybo Games ApS, released in 2012, maintained strong momentum with downloads peaking at nearly 300K in the last two weeks of December. The weekly active users saw a slight decline from 4.4M at the beginning of the quarter to 3.3M at the end, while revenue saw an uptick in the holiday season, reaching over 20K USD.

Nintendo Co., Ltd.'s iconic Super Mario Run, released in 2016, experienced a significant surge in downloads during the Christmas week, topping 130K. Weekly active users increased from 253K to over 400K in the same period, and revenue also saw a notable rise, ending the quarter at nearly 30K USD.

Playgendary Limited's Tomb of the Mask showed a steady download rate with a year-end spike of over 85K. The weekly active users hovered around 700K for most of the quarter but saw a slight rise to 710K in the last week. Revenue remained consistent with a slight increase to 10K USD by the year's end.

RobTop Games AB's Geometry Dash, despite being released in 2013, still garnered interest with downloads reaching over 3K in the holiday weeks. Weekly active users showed a modest increase from 79K to 81K, with revenue peaking at 8.7K USD in the week leading up to Christmas.

Lastly, Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir by Crazy Labs saw a consistent number of downloads, with a slight uptick to over 22K during the last week of December. The game's weekly active users saw a minimal increase throughout the quarter, reaching 218K. Revenue showed a gradual rise, ending the quarter at nearly 7K USD.
